The Super Eagles star man scored twice to help Nottingham Forest earn a hard fought victory in a thrilling Premier League encounter against Southampton at City Ground on Monday night.

The game’s opening goal was scored by Awoniyi in the 18th minute when he slammed the ball past McCarthy, who only had time to get a half-glove on it before it slid into his goal.

Three minutes later, the Nigerian forward scored again, shocking Southampton’s defense with a superb voley inside the penalty area for his first brace in Premier League.

The first half of the game ended with a score of 3-1 in favor of Taiwo Awoniyi and his teammates.

Lyanco added a second goal for Southampton as the second half resumed, keeping the scoreline at 2-3.

Danilo then made it 4-2 for Nottingham Forest, before James Ward-Prowse ensured that Southampton did not depart the City Ground with a landslide defeat by scoring their third goal and it finished 4-3.

Awoniyi Taiwo, who presently has six goals and one assist to his name in the Premier League, thanked God on Twitter for his meager accomplishment.
