It was a night to remember for Super Falcons stars Asisat Oshoala and Ashleigh Plumptre in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, as both players made their mark with decisive contributions in a thrilling derby.
Oshoala struck a stoppage-time winner to hand Al Hilal a dramatic 3-2 victory over Al Ittihad in Jeddah, while Plumptre turned provider for her side’s second goal — though it ultimately wasn’t enough to save the hosts, Footballrover reports.
Super Falcons Stars Shine in Saudi Women’s League
The clash had everything: goals, drama, quality — and a touch of Nigerian magic.
Al Ittihad drew first blood in the 22nd minute when Brazilian forward Leticia Nunes clinically finished to fire up the home crowd.
But Al Hilal hit back before half-time, with Portuguese winger Jéssica Silva rifling in the equaliser on 40 minutes.
Silva struck again early in the second half to put Hilal 2-1 up, but Ittihad rallied. In the 74th minute, Plumptre—now building a reputation as one of the league’s most creative defenders—whipped in a brilliant ball for Lina Boussaha to smash home and restore parity.
Oshoala’s Stoppage-Time Brilliance Seal Victory
At 2-2, the momentum seemed to tilt toward Ittihad, but Oshoala had the final touch.
Well-marshalled for much of the match, the Super Falcons striker found space deep into stoppage time and buried a clinical finish to seal all three points for Al Hilal.
The victory pushes Al Hilal three points clear at the top of the table, strengthening their title charge. For Al Ittihad, however, back-to-back defeats leave them slipping to fourth place.
Individually, Oshoala now boasts four goals and two assists in just four appearances, while Plumptre has racked up four assists in as many games.
