The victory not only saw Porto leapfrog their rivals in the Europa League standings but also marked the end of a 17-game run without a clean sheet in the competition, Footballrover reports.

However, it was Omorodion’s match-winning goal in the 75th minute that left fans at the Estádio do Dragão buzzing.

Porto, having struggled in their previous Europa League outings—a narrow 3-2 defeat to Bodø/Glimt and a thrilling 3-3 draw with Manchester United—came into this match with a point to prove.Samuel Omorodion in Europa

Omorodion almost opened the scoring in the first half, but Hoffenheim’s goalkeeper Oliver Baumann managed to block his effort during a chaotic sequence of play.

As the match approached halftime, Nico González nodded a free-kick towards Tiago Djaló, who calmly slotted in Porto’s first goal.

But it wasn’t until the 75th minute that Omorodion took centre stage, executing a stunning strike from inside the box.

His brilliant individual effort flew past Baumann, sealing Porto’s first Europa League win of the season.

Samuel Omorodion’s brilliance leads Porto to breakthrough

Samuel Omorodion’s performance was not limited to his goal. The 20-year-old forward was instrumental throughout the match, registering three shots, two of which were on target, and playing a key role in Porto’s attacking buildup.

With 31 touches, seven inside the opposition box, and three key passes in the final third, his influence was undeniable.

Having now scored four goals in three Europa League matches, Omorodion is proving himself as a rising star following his failed move to Chelsea over the summer.

As Porto remain undefeated in their last five games, they now set their sights on Lazio, hoping to extend their winning streak in November.
