Super Eagles defender Ryan Alebiosu delivered a solid performance over the weekend, providing a crucial assist as Blackburn Rovers fought to a hard-earned draw against Stoke City in their Championship clash.
Despite Alebiosu creating the opening goal early in the match, the Nigerian international could only watch as his side settled for a 1-1 draw at the Bet365 Stadium, Footballrover reports
Ryan Alebiosu shines with assist in Blackburn Rovers draw
The Round 42 encounter marked a significant outing for the 24-year-old right-back.
He has now increased his goal contribution tally to five for the season across 35 appearances after recording his fourth assist alongside a single goal.
Alebiosu has been in fine form recently, tallying two assists in his last five outings for Blackburn. This latest contribution follows his assist in the 2-1 victory over Millwall on March 14.
Blackburn Rovers strengthen their survival hopes with the draw against Stoke, extending their unbeaten streak to five matches.
This hard-earned point moves Rovers four points clear of the relegation zone with only four games remaining.
Alebiosu impact boosts Blackburn survival push
The visitors struck first in the 21st minute when Adam Forshaw clinically converted a pass from the Nigerian defender Alebiosu.
Stoke, whose early-season playoff ambitions have faded into a 15th-place standing, responded early in the second half. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi levelled the scoring by tapping in a cross from Million Manhoef.
Despite Rak-Sakyi missing a subsequent chance to take the lead, the match remained balanced as both sides searched for a late winner.
The Potters’ afternoon ended in frustration when Ashley Phillips was sent off for a second yellow card following a foul on Yuki Ohashi.
While Blackburn edges closer to safety, Stoke continues to drift toward a mid-table finish.
