The break, which began on Sunday, February 4th, will see the team regroup on Wednesday, February 7th, with training resuming the following day, Footballrover reports.

A Season Marked by Mixed Results

The Pride of Cross River finished the first round in 8th place with 14 points, a tally that reflects a season of inconsistency.

While they managed to secure victories against Stormers SC, Smart City, Edel FC, and Vandrezzer FC and a draw against Abia Comets and Dakkada FC.

They also tasted defeats at the hands of 1472 FC, Ekiti FC, Madiba FC, Coalcity Utd, and Beyond Limits.

Goalscoring Woes and Defensive Frailties

The team’s struggles can be attributed to both a lack of firepower and defensive vulnerabilities.

With only 10 goals scored in 11 matches, Rovers FC boasts one of the lowest attacking record in the league.

Conversely, conceding 13 goals exposes defensive frailties that need addressing.

Joshua Sunday Leads the Scoring Charts

Despite the team’s shortcomings, individual players have managed to shine brightly.

The likes of Joshua Sunday tops the scoring charts with 3 goals, followed closely by Omolabi Owolabi with 3 goals as well.

Jesam Joecare, Tony Ayang, Waliyullahi Adebayo, and Esobe Chukwudi have also contributed to the scoresheet.Rovers FC Players Get Respite with Mid-Season Break Despite Subpar First Round Performance

Time for Reflection and Regrouping

The mid-season break provides Rovers FC with a crucial opportunity to reflect on their first-round performance and strategize for the remaining matches.

The coaching staff will also need to use this time to address weaknesses, instill renewed motivation, and prepare the team for a stronger second-half push.

Meanwhile, Footballrover understands that the head Coach Samson Unuanel recently stepped down by mutual consent.

Assistant Coach Samuel Asuquo took charge for the final two matches of the first round and a new coach is expected to be appointed soon to lead the team forward.

Can Rovers FC Turn the Tide?

With 11 matches remaining in the season, Rovers FC still have a chance to turn their fortunes around.

The short break could be the catalyst for a much-needed resurgence.

Whether they can climb the table and challenge for promotion remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: the fight is far from over.
