Seven-time NPFL champions, Rangers International F.C., have flexed their muscles in the transfer market, securing the signatures of six exciting new players as they look to fire up for the second round of the 2023–2024 NPFL season.
The Enugu-based outfit, currently sitting in 8th place with 28 points, aims to close the gap on the league leaders and challenge for silverware, Footballrover reports.
Fresh Blood Injects Excitement:
Rangers bolstered their defensive ranks with the acquisition of Uchenna Ezeala, a central defender from 3SC, while Zulkifilu Mohammed Rabiu (Lobi Stars) and Odo Joshua Chidiebere (formerly of the Saudi Arabian League) added firepower to the attack.
The midfield receives a boost with Ogbodo Kelechi Emmanuel (Disdeft Football Academy) and Aniji Ifeanyichukwu Michael (Flying Angels F.C.), while Nebo Tochukwu Kingsley (Olicon Rovers F.C.) strengthens the left wing.
Experience Meets Youth:
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu is confident the mix of seasoned veterans and promising youngsters will propel the Flying Antelopes towards their goals.
“We are good to go. What we did was a mix of youth and experience to help us confidently challenge for trophies this season. We expect a very tough and challenging second stanza with our eyes set on achieving our set target for the season,” the Rangers boss declared.
CEO Backs New Recruits:
Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, Rangers CEO, also echoed Coach Ilechukwu’s optimism.
“We are glad we were able to complete these deals that would surely give the coaches enough opportunities to make selections that would help us challenge for honours this season and beyond. We went for experience and youthful players, and it is my belief that they will deliver the goods when they are needed,” he said.
Eyes on the Prize:
With just eight points separating them from league leaders Lobi Stars, Rangers are determined to make a strong push in the second round.
The new signings have injected a dose of excitement into the squad, and the Coal City side is poised to soar when the NPFL resumes on February 14th.
