The Super Eagles of Nigeria are not just strutting their stuff on the pitch at the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023; they’re also raking in the millions.

Reaching the semi-finals has already secured them a cool N3 billion ($2.5 million) prize money, and there’s still more to come, Footballrover reports.

Coach Peseiro’s men secured their place in the last four with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Angola last Friday. But the financial rewards don’t stop there.

Alongside South Africa, DR Congo, and host nation Ivory Coast, they’ve already bagged their N3 billion payday just for reaching the semis.

Recall that CAF hiked prize money by 40% before the tournament began.

So, if the Super Eagles advance to the final, they’ll add at least another N5 billion ($4 million) to their war chest.

And the ultimate dream? Lifting the trophy, which comes with a staggering N8.8 billion ($7 million) prize!

With heavyweights like Senegal, Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt all sent packing, the Super Eagles are now favourites to claim the continental crown.

But before they can dream of gold, they must conquer South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a fierce battle on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Nigerian time for the final.

DR Congo faces host Ivory Coast in the other semi-final, setting the stage for an epic finale.
