As the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) roars back to life on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, Rivers Angels top striker Ezekiel Motunrayo is brimming with confidence, vowing to find the back of the net against FC Robo Queens.
The Jewel of Rivers currently sits atop their group standings with 14 points, boasting a commanding lead over Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens, Footballrover reports.
Having secured a 2-1 victory in the first leg encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Lagos, the Angels are determined to replicate that feat at their home turf, the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Speaking to the club media, Captain Catherine Kenneth highlighted the team’s intensified preparations and quest to maintain their league leadership in the abridged Group B table.
Catherine also emphasised that the team’s ultimate goal is to reach the Super Six at the end of the season, leading to qualification for the CAF Champions League.
According to her, the major target is to win the league.
Adding fuel to the fire, star striker Ezekiel Motunrayo, who already has five goals to her name this season, set her sights on a personal milestone.

The goal poacher is certain that the team will take down FC Robo on Wednesday. In the 2-1 victory in the first leg in Lagos, Motunrayo both scored and provided an assist.
“We are fully prepared and ready for the game. I’m going to score on Wednesday. I’m very confident, and with the help of my teammates, I’m sure I can do it,” she said.
Motunrayo revealed that her goal is to lead her club to success and rank as the league’s best scorer.
“My target for the season is 20 goals, and I’m working towards it,” she declared.
Blessing Okpe, another lethal force in the Rivers Angels attack, echoed Motunrayo’s optimism.
Acknowledging FC Robo’s strength, she expressed belief in her team’s ability to secure victory.
“We’ve been working hard, and all we are expecting is total victory,” she stated, setting her own goal at 10 goals for the season.
With kickoff set for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium is primed to witness a clash of titans.
Can the Rivers Angels maintain their winning streak and solidify their grip on the league table?
Or will FC Robo Queens pull off an upset and dent their rivals’ ambitions?
Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the battle for NWFL supremacy is heating up, and the Rivers Angels’ Ezekiel Motunrayo is determined to be at the heart of the action.
