Following a frustrating 1-1 draw against rivals Edo Queens, the South-South giants have now collected just one point from a possible six, yet the coach remains unfazed, Footballrover reports.

“We will beat Nasarawa Amazons”—Rivers Angels Coach speaks boldly

Speaking at the post-match press conference, coach Blankson stressed that the race for the NWFL Premiership title is still wide open.

The group is very, very open. We are winning our next match against Nasarawa Amazons, and when we win them, it will be four points—and they have four points too,” he declared.

Despite missing key players due to injury and facing a Nasarawa side boasting an impressive attacking lineup, the coach expressed full confidence in his squad.

Every player in the team is key. Whatever comes tomorrow, definitely, we are going to beat Nasarawa Amazons for us to be among the contenders.”

“A goal is a goal”—Blankson defends strikers after goal drought

When asked about his misfiring forward line, who have yet to score a proper goal in open play—relying instead on an own goal to level against Edo Queens—Blankson had a defiant response.

I’m not worried. What’s an own goal? A goal is a goal. It’s pressure that causes goals. Whether it’s an own goal or not, my strikers made the push for us to get that goal,” the Rivers Angels coach said.

The Jewels of Rivers are now heading into a must-win clash, needing to gather momentum to remain in the race for the Super Six crown.

With only three games left, every match is now a potential decider.

Can the Garden City ladies still salvage their Super Six campaign?

It’s a high-stakes moment for the Port Harcourt-based side. A win against Nasarawa Amazons could reignite their campaign, but any slip-up may spell doom for their Super Six title hopes.
