Eight-time Federation Cup champions Rivers Angels have qualified for the round of 16 in the Women’s FA Cup after their opponents, Ekiti Queens, failed to show up for their scheduled match.
Rivers Angels had arrived in Asaba on Wednesday, ready to face Ekiti Queens in the highly anticipated round-of-32 fixture at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Delta State, Footballrover reports.
However, their opponents were nowhere to be found, leaving the Jewels of Rivers to claim a walkover victory with three awarded goals.

This development comes as a surprise, given the two teams’ recent history.
Ekiti Queens had emerged victorious in their previous encounter in Match Week 14 of the Nigeria Women’s Premier League, winning 2-0.
However, the shocking no-show by Ekiti Queens is not an isolated incident.
Three other teams—Migthy Jets Mata, Suit De Queens, and Bright Future Queens—also suffered walkovers in the Women’s President’s FA Cup 2024.
Other results from the competition include Remo Stars Ladies’ 4-0 win over Oskleans, Abia Angels FC’s 8-0 thrashing of Castmog Ladies, and Naija Ratels Football Club’s 7-0 victory over N-Youth Academy.
Rivers Angels’ free pass to the round of 16 is a significant boost to their chances of claiming their ninth Federation Cup title.
The team will now head back to Port Harcourt as they look to build on this momentum while they await new challenges in the competition.
