Drama, tension, and a pinch of magic—that’s what fans of Remo Stars were treated to as the Sky Blue Stars managed to squeeze the much-needed result past a resilient Ijebu United side in a thrilling Valuejet Cup encounter.
The Ikenne Boys came into the game with a point to prove; their previous results were more of a mixed ride of draws and defeats, Footballrover reports.
Ijebu United, on the other hand, were looking to build on their shocking victory over Kwara United.
From the first whistle, both sides were locked in a midfield battle, with neither team willing to concede an inch.
The first half had nothing much to talk about, with both defences standing firm.
But just when it seemed like the teams would go into the break scoreless, Onuha Peter broke the deadlock, handing Remo Stars the important lead.
The second half was a different story altogether. Ijebu United came out with guns and fire, and it paid off when Victor Peter found the back of the net with a clinical finish.

Haruna Hadi, the hero of the hour, stepped up with a thunderbolt of a shot that left the Ijebu United goalkeeper stunned.
In the end, it was Remo Stars who secured their spot in the next round with the hard-fought victory.
They will now face Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash between the two CAF Champions League contenders.
In the other group game, Rivers United played out a thrilling 1-1 draw with Kwara United.
This result sends the Pride of Rivers through to the next round, where they will face Ikorodu City.
