Akwa United head coach Fatai Osho, adamant about securing a win in the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League clash against Kwara United, asserts the importance of Saturday’s match.
The Promise Keepers have faced a sluggish start to the 2023β24 season, clinching only two victories out of ten games,Β Footballrover reports
This disappointing performance finds them languishing in the 17th spot on the league table with just ten points, three more behind their visitors in 9th place.

However, he acknowledged the challenge ahead while emphasising the team’s preparedness and determination to secure all three points.
βOur game on Saturday is another opportunity for us to redeem ourselves by going for all three points. We know that it wonβt be easy but we are ready and determined to fight for the maximum point,β Osho said
Speaking to the club’s media, the coach highlighted their urgent need to reverse their fortunes after finding themselves anchored at the bottom of the table.
Osho admits the criticality of every forthcoming match, stressing the team’s inability to afford further point losses, especially while playing on home turf.
As they brace for the encounter, the coach and his squad are resolute in their ambition to clinch victories, starting with the impending showdown against Kwara United.
“After ten rounds of matches, we are at the wrong end of the table and we want to get out of that zone as quickly as possible, so all matches are a must-win for us, beginning from this one against Kwara United because we cannot afford to drop any more points, especially at home,” the coach said.
The historical encounters between Akwa United and Kwara United have seen both teams evenly matched.
Having clashed 14 times, each side has celebrated five victories, while four encounters culminated in draws.
Meanwhile, Kwara United has struggled on Akwa Ibom soil, failing to secure a win in their last eight visits, comprising five defeats and three draws.
All eyes will surely be on Akwa United as they seek a much-needed success to steer clear of the relegation zone.
