Enugu Rangers chief coach, Suleman Alli, has lauded his team’s resilience after their hard-fought victory over Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier League (NPFL) on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes secured a 2-1 win at the Awka City Stadium, thanks to goals from Odoh Joel and Godwin Obaje in the first half, Footballrover reports
Despite a second-half comeback attempt by Niger Tornadoes through Bashir Usman, Rangers held on to secure their second win of the 2023/2024 NPFL season.

The first half witnessed an early breakthrough for Rangers as Joel Odoh, the team’s right-back, capitalized on a Kazeem Ogunleye free kick to head the ball into the net, securing the first goal of the match in the 16th minute.
The excitement continued to build as Godwin Obaje, Rangers’ attacking sensation, doubled the team’s lead in the 43rd minute.
The second half saw a reinvigorated Tornadoes side determined to narrow the gap.
Their efforts paid off in the 54th minute when Bashir Usman fired a powerful shot past Rangers’ goalkeeper, Japhet Opubo, after his initial attempt was blocked.
The remaining minutes of the match were filled with intense back-and-forth action as both teams fought relentlessly for more goals but failed to find back of the net.

In a post-match interview with club media, Rangers’ Chief coach, Suleman Alli praised his team’s determination and fighting spirit, acknowledging their continuous efforts to refine their skills and teamwork.
“It was a tough match against an excellent side and we thank God for giving us the three points at stake. We hope to keep working on the team till we get it right,” he said.
Alli expressed optimism about the team’s future, stating;
“Hopefully, the dream team we clamor for in our next game would have emerged.”
With this victory, Rangers now have six points from three matches, scoring five goals and conceding four.
They will be travelling down to the Ilorin Sports Complex to face Kwara United on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
