In an exciting match on Monday evening in Portugal, the Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a 3-2 victory over Mozambique in their second international friendly.

Coach Jose Peseiro claimed his first victory with the Super Eagles following a series of international friendly matches.

The Super Eagles had previously played to a 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia in their first game on Friday, October 13, 2023, Footballrover reports

Mozambique’s Geny Catamo shocked the Super Eagles early with a seventh-minute goal.

However, Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka with an assist from Oluwafisayo Dele Bashiru, and Moses Simon helped Nigeria secure the win.

Terem Moffi leveled the score at 1-1 for Nigeria in the 19th minute of the first half. Then, in the 39th minute, Frank Onyeka put the Super Eagles ahead 2-1.

Moses Simon extended the lead with a goal in the second minute of first-half extra time, making it 3-1 for Nigeria.

In the second half, Faisal Abdul Bangal, with an assist from Geny Catamo, narrowed the gap to 3-2 in favor of Mozambique in the 56th minute.

It’s worth noting that Mozambique was reduced to ten players when Edmilson Gabriel Dove received a red card in the 39th minute of the first half.

Coach Jose Peseiro made three changes to the Super Eagles’ starting lineup in the 75th minute of the second half.

Midfielder Alex Iwobi, Defender Calvin Bassey, and Forward Victor Okoh Boniface were replaced by Joe Aribo, Jordan Torunarigha, and Terem Moffi.

Bright Osayi-Samuel and Chidozie Awaziem of the Super Eagles received yellow cards in the 89th and 94th minutes of second-half extra time.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will now regroup in November for the World Cup qualifiers ahead of the AFCON next year.
