Super Eagles forward Peter Olayinka propelled Crvena Zvezda to the Serbia Cup Final with a stellar performance, netting a crucial goal in their semi-final clash against Partizan.
The Wednesday night showdown saw the Nigerian international score the winner in the first half to help Crvena Zvezda secure a 2-0 victory over Partizan at the Red Star Stadium, Footballrover reports.
The win sealed their spot in the Serbia Cup final, set to take place on May 22 against Vojvodina.
The excitement came early for the home fans, who were handed a goal to cheer them up after Aleksandar Filipović rewarded Crvena Zvezda with an own goal just 28 minutes into the match.
Olayinka swiftly capitalised, finding the net two minutes later with a brilliant combination play alongside Srdjan Mijailovic.
Despite both teams’ efforts in the second half, Crvena Zvezda emerged victorious as Olayinka’s goal proved to be the winner that sealed a comfortable path to the cup final.
Currently, Olayinka’s scorching form continues as he boasts an impressive record with Crvena Zvezda, having scored over nine goals and provided two assists in 30 appearances this season.
Up next for him and his teammates is a showdown against Vojvodina in the cup final on May 22, but first, they must battle with the same opponent in the Serbian SuperLiga play-off clash on Sunday.
