Victor Osimhen has once again displayed why he is one of the most formidable forwards in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Nigerian international delivered his 17th goal contribution of the season, playing a key role in Galatasaray’s narrow 2-1 victory over Göztepe at RAMs Park on Saturday, Footballrover reports.
His early penalty and commanding performance kept the Lions comfortably atop the league standings.
Osimhen’s decisive impact in a thrilling encounter
Galatasaray wasted no time asserting their dominance, and it was Victor Osimhen who led the charge.
The 25-year-old striker opened the scoring in the 10th minute, confidently converting a penalty after Djalma Silva’s reckless foul prompted referee Alper Akarsu to point to the spot.
Osimhen sent Göztepe’s goalkeeper Mateusz Lis the wrong way, placing the ball decisively into the net to give the home side an early lead.
Göztepe, however, refused to back down. Romulo Cruz produced a moment of brilliance in the 27th minute, maneuvering through the Galatasaray defense before firing a precise shot that ricocheted off the post and into the net, leveling the score at 1-1.
The Lions regained control in the second half when Yunus Akgün capitalized on a pinpoint pass from Dries Mertens in the 61st minute.
Akgün’s calm finish into the bottom left corner restored Galatasaray’s advantage, ultimately sealing the win.
Osimhen’s record-breaking form powers Galatasaray
Osimhen’s influence wasn’t limited to his goal-scoring prowess. His overall presence disrupted Göztepe’s defensive structure throughout the match.
While Lucas Torreira appeared to have extended the lead to 3-1 with a header in the 80th minute, a VAR review ruled the goal offside, preserving the narrow margin.
Despite the setback, the Orkan Buruk’s side held firm to secure all three points.
Osimhen now boasts an impressive 10 goals and three assists in the Super Lig this season, complemented by three goals and one assist in the UEFA Europa League.
His remarkable 17th goal contribution highlights his critical role in Galatasaray’s campaign.

Galatasaray’s victory keeps them at the summit of the Super Lig with 47 points, a commanding 19-point lead over their opponents in 5th place.
