Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has landed himself in hot water, with Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso vowing to address the forward’s reckless driving incident.

The Nigerian striker, known for his impressive form this season, has come under fire in Germany after being caught using his phone while speeding on a highway, Footballrover reports.

Photos circulating on social media revealed Boniface scrolling through his mobile device while driving his Mercedes-Benz at 141 km/h in a zone limited to 120 km/h.

Adding fuel to the fire, the striker was reportedly hanging out with Nigerian rapper Zoro Swagbag during the incident.

Sources claim Boniface was reading Instagram comments about Leverkusen’s starting lineup for their Champions League clash against Salzburg.

The backlash has been swift, with many criticising the 23-year-old for endangering lives.

This isn’t the first time Victor’s driving habits have raised eyebrows; just six weeks ago, he survived a car crash shortly after helping Leverkusen secure victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, who was clearly not happy about the situation, did not mince words when addressing the matter.

“I don’t like it; it’s obviously not good, and of course, it’s not allowed to happen. I haven’t seen Boni, but he knows it’s not allowed. We have to tell him he’s not allowed to do something like this,” Alonso told BeIN Sports.

Victor is currently sidelined with a thigh injury sustained during international duty but has been a key player for Leverkusen, scoring eight goals in 15 appearances this season.

Despite his off-field troubles, his contributions on the pitch have helped propel the club to fourth place in the Bundesliga, although they remain nine points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
