Nigerian forward Paul Mukairu has earned the title of King of Assists in Turkey’s second division following a standout season with Boluspor.
When Danish side FC Copenhagen sent Paul Mukairu on loan to Boluspor, expectations were modest, Footballrover reports.
But few could have predicted the spectacular season the Nigerian forward would have in the Turkish 1. Lig.
By the end of the 2024/2025 campaign, Paul Mukairu had been crowned the King of Assists after dishing out 12 assists in 36 matches—an unrivalled feat that carved his name into the history books of the second tier.
In addition to his league-best 12 assists, the 25-year-old forward also found the back of the net seven times, bringing his total goal contributions to an impressive 19.
Mukairu’s creative genius and clinical precision turned Boluspor into one of the league’s most dangerous attacking forces.
Paul Mukairu’s rise to become the king of Assist
The season began with quiet promise. Paul Mukairu recorded his first assist in a confident 2-0 home victory against Manisa, giving fans a glimpse of what was to come.
He added another assist in an away clash against Sakaryaspor, followed by a third in the thrilling 4-2 win over Yeni Malatyaspor. But he wasn’t done.
He delivered back-to-back assists in a 3-1 victory over Adanaspor AS and a narrow 1-0 win over Igdir FK.
From there, his numbers grew steadily. His sixth assist came once again against Manisa FK before continuing his streak with a seventh in a 3-1 win at home to Sakaryaspor.
Mukairu’s impact became impressive when he pulled off consecutive assists in wins over Karagumruk and Kocaelispor.
And then came the masterclass: in a mouthwatering 7-0 away demolition of Adanaspor, where the Nigerian forward scored once and set up three more—securing Boluspor’s playoff spot and his status as the King of Assist.
From loan gamble to Boluspor’s creative engine
What makes Paul Mukairu’s achievement even more compelling is how he exceeded expectations.
Loaned in with little fanfare, he quickly emerged as Boluspor’s most consistent performer.
Match after match, he created chances, opened up defences, and made the difference in tight games.
Now, with Boluspor sitting 7th on the table and preparing for their final showdown against İstanbulspor, all eyes are once again on their Nigerian talisman.
Will the new King of Assist deliver one final spark before the curtain falls?
