Nigerian forward Tenton Yenne kicked off his Russian Cup journey with a bang—but it ended in heartbreak as FC Baltika crumbled to a late defeat.

Despite netting an early equaliser and showing promise in Group 4, Round 1, Yenne’s debut was overshadowed by a last-minute goal that sealed a 2-1 loss to Akron Togliatti on Tuesday evening at the Solidarnost Samara Arena, Footballrover reports.
Tenton Yenne Opens Account for FC Baltika in Russian Cup
It didn’t take long for the action to start. The hosts, Akron Togliatti, struck first in the 7th minute after Benchimol confidently converted a penalty kick.
But just seven minutes later, Yenne answered back with style—scoring his first goal for Baltika to make it 1-1 and restore hope for his side after sneaking in between defenders to score a simple tap in.

The 25-year-old left-winger, known for his pace and power, looked like a bright spark throughout the first half.
However, his efforts were not enough to secure a win.
As the clock ticked into added time, Benchimol struck again in the 97th minute to hand the hosts a dramatic victory in this Cup thriller.
Yenne Shines, but Baltika’s Backline Breaks
While Tenton Yenne grabbed the spotlight, his fellow Nigerian teammate Chinonso Offor—who scored in their last match against Spartak Moscow—was nowhere to be found on the pitch.

FC Baltika struggled to find rhythm despite Yenne’s early equaliser, and their defensive line failed to hold firm under late pressure.
Yenne’s goal was a high point, but the defeat leaves FC Baltika in a tough spot as they look to bounce back in their next fixtures.
Tenton Yenne recently joined Baltika from Ararat Armenia, where he built a solid reputation.
During his time there (2022–2025), he scored 47 goals in 114 games, emerging as a key player for the Armenian side.
Now three games into his Russian adventure, the Nigerian attacker will hope to replicate—and even surpass—his success in Armenia.
What’s Next for Yenne and Baltika?
With his first goal already in the bag, Footballrover will surely keep an eye on how he’ll adapt to life in the Russian Premier League.

Up next for Baltika is a crucial league match against FC Orenburg on Sunday, August 3rd.
It’s another chance for Yenne to prove himself and help his new team bounce back from the Cup setback.
