It was indeed a bad day at the office for Samson Iyede, who, despite finding the back of the net, could only watch his team Novi Pazar suffer a narrow home defeat at the hands of IMT Novi Beograd during their Serbia Superliga clash.

The Monday evening fixture at the Gradski Stadion saw the 27-year-old Nigerian score the equaliser that pulled his team back into the game, only for Novi Pazar to succumb to a 2-1 defeat at the death, Footballrover reports.
Samson Iyede’s Equaliser Not Enough as Novi Pazar Crumble Late
It was a match Iyede and his teammates deserved to win after controlling 65% of the ball possession and registering 15 shots on goal compared to IMT Novi Beograd’s 35% possession and 14 shots.
While Samson Iyede made headlines with his goal, his compatriot Ejike Opara was also involved in the game before being replaced by Abdulsamed Abdullahi shortly after half-time.

After a rough start to the Mozzart Bet Super Liga Round 3 clash, it was the visitors, IMT, who took the lead through Milos Jovic in the 35th minute, a goal they held onto heading into the break.
The second half was largely a defensive battle until the 88th minute when Iyede combined brilliantly with Italian forward Bob Omoregbe to level the scores.
However, just when it seemed like a fair point would be shared, the home team gave away a late penalty.
Vasilije Novicic’s initial spot-kick in the 94th minute was saved, but he converted the rebound to snatch all three points for IMT.

Novi’s Search for First Win Continues
It marks back-to-back defeats for Iyede and his teammates, following their 3-1 Conference League qualifying loss to Jagiellonia, which saw them crash out of European competition.
Still without a win in the league, Novi had opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Napredak.
They will now be aiming to bounce back and register their first victory when they face Radnicki Nis next.
