After seven appearances in the Poland Ekstraklasa, Nigerian forward Paul Mukairu has finally opened his goalscoring account for Pogoń Szczecin, inspiring the team to a well-deserved win over Raków Częstochowa on Sunday.
Mukairu scored a stoppage-time winner to ensure Pogoń sealed a 2-0 victory at the Stadion Florian Krygier, Footballrover reports.
Paul Mukairu Nets First Goal for Pogon
Despite featuring for just 26 minutes, the 25-year-old forward made good use of his opportunity to help the team secure three important points at home.
The Nigerian striker was introduced in the 64th minute to replace Kacper Kostorz, and in the 94th minute, he delivered the second goal of the contest.
The former Boluspor star found the net after Kamil Grosicki had initially handed Pogoń Szczecin the lead in the 57th minute.
It was a crucial win for Pogoń, their second consecutive victory and third of the season.
They now move up to 7th place with 10 points and will face Korona Kielce after the international break.
Daniel Daga Scores in Molde’s Defeat
Meanwhile, in the Norway Eliteserien, Daniel Daga came off the bench to deliver a consolation goal as his team Molde battled to a disappointing 3-1 away defeat against Valerenga.
It took the 18-year-old midfielder just a minute on the pitch to make an impact, but his effort wasn’t enough to rescue his side at the Marienlyst Stadion.
The former Enyimba star scored in the 85th minute after coming on a minute earlier to replace Magnus Eikrem.
Daga registered his second goal of the season after 10 appearances.
However, his effort came too late, as the home team had already scored three through Jesper Taaje, Johan Bakke, and Marko Farji.
