Nigerian forward Paul Mukairu delivered a man-of-the-match performance on Saturday, scoring once as Pogoń Szczecin failed to hold a 2-goal advantage, settling for a 2-2 draw against Radomiak Radom.
Mukairu netted the second goal of the match to give the hosts a 2-0 lead, only for Radomiak to claw back in an end-to-end Ekstraklasa contest at Stadion Miejski, Footballrover reports.
Paul Mukairu Shines Despite Pogoń Dropping Points
He earned an 8.0 rating, hitting the woodwork once and missing two one-on-one opportunities in his four shots.
The 25-year-old forward played 86 minutes before Musa Juwara replaced him. This marked his fifth start in 18 appearances this season, during which he has scored four goals in just 673 minutes.
The last time he found the net was back on October 25 in a 2-1 win over Cracovia. Since then, he has gone five games (a month plus) without a goal contribution.
The hosts looked in control after Sam Greenwood’s clean strike and Paul Mukairu’s sharp finish put them 2–0 up before the break.
But Radomiak regrouped well, pulling one back through Elves early in the second half before Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba completed the comeback with a cool effort in the 76th minute.
Pogoń created the better chances overall but failed to manage the game, while Radomiak’s improved intensity earned them a valuable point on the road.
Despite the outcome of the game, the Nigerian forward remains the team’s second top scorer, just two goals behind Kamil Grosicki, as Pogoń sits 10th with 21 points after 18 rounds.
Stanley Kanu Provides Spark, But FC Zlín Falls Short
In the 18th round of the Czech First League, Nigerian forward Stanley Kanu registered an assist, but it wasn’t enough to prevent FC Zlín from falling 3-1 to Mladá Boleslav on the road.
Kanu set up his team’s only goal in the defeat at Lokotrans Arena. The 26-year-old now has six goal contributions this season—three goals and three assists in 17 appearances.
Making only his seventh start of the campaign, Kanu played 62 minutes before Tomas Poznar came on to replace him.
Despite his impressive effort, the match ended in favour of his compatriot Solomon John, who was brought on in the 66th minute for Michal Sevcik.
Josef Kolarik put the hosts ahead just six minutes in, but Kanu linked well with Tom Ulbrich to level for FC Zlín.
Mladá Boleslav regained the lead through Martin Subert before halftime, and Dominik Kostka’s strike shortly after the break secured the victory.
The result leaves Kanu and FC Zlín in ninth place with 23 points in the league standings.
