Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika and teenage striker Kaye Furo delivered standout moments for Club Brugge, but their efforts couldn’t prevent a 3–2 loss to Sint-Truidense in the Jupiler Pro League.
Onyedika gave Brugge a bright start in the 16th minute, showing precision inside the box to beat Sint-Truidense goalkeeper Leo Kokubo, Footballrover reports.
Raphael Onyedika opens the scoring with calm finish
It was his first league goal of the season as the midfield continues to gather momentum ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.
Despite the strong start, Brugge struggled to maintain control as the hosts responded with two quick goals that flipped the momentum.
Furo announces himself with first professional goal
The spotlight later shifted to Kaye Furo, who came off the bench in the 64th minute and instantly lifted Brugge’s attack.
The 18-year-old striker needed just six minutes to make his mark, smashing home his first senior goal in the 70th minute to bring the score to 2–2.
His movement, pace, and composure highlighted why he’s regarded as one of the club’s brightest prospects.
However, Sint-Truidense regained the lead in the 81st minute through Andrés Ferrari.
Furo nearly rescued Brugge late on, but his sharp effort rattled the woodwork instead of finding the net.
Born to former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi, Furo is eligible to play for both Nigeria and Belgium, having featured for Belgium’s U19s.
His breakthrough season—featuring debuts in the Croky Cup, Jupiler Pro League, and Champions League qualifiers—continues to attract attention from both nations.
In the end, Onyedika’s opener and Furo’s milestone goal stood out, but Brugge left Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium empty-handed.
