The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has been buzzing since yesterday following the news of Monday Odigie’s unexpected resignation from his role as head coach of Bendel Insurance FC.
After four years at the helm, the coach decided to part ways with the club, leaving many fans wondering the future direction of the team now, Footballrover reports.
The announcement of the sudden departure was made public on Friday via the club’s official social media channels.
Odigie’s resignation comes amid a turbulent season for the Benin Gunners, who find themselves languishing in 20th place on the NPFL table.
Bendel Insurance players determined to fight on after Odigie’s resignation
With just nine points from 12 games, the team has struggled to find form, securing only three victories, three draws, and suffering six defeats.
The disappointing campaign seems to have been the catalyst for Odigie’s decision to step down, as the pressure of the club’s underwhelming performance took its toll.
Despite the setback, the Benin Arsenal players are maintaining a positive outlook.
Midfielder Oronsanye James has expressed confidence that the team is undeterred by Odigie’s departure.
According to Oronsanye, who was quoted by Daily Post,
“The mood in camp is good; everybody is looking forward to the game against Kwara United on Saturday. We all know our position on the log is challenging, and we want to win the game to improve our position in the table.”
Looking ahead, the team is fully focused on their next fixture.
With a match against Kwara United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Bendel Insurance is aiming to secure an important victory that could boost their position in the standings.
