NPFL star Nyima Nwagua has downplayed his personal achievement of scoring a hat-trick against Doma United, emphasising the importance of his team’s victory.
Nwagua bagged his first three goals in a single match in a thrilling encounter that saw the Pride of Rivers edge out Doma United 3-2, Footballrover reports.
Despite a late fightback from the Savannah Tigers, Nwagua’s goals proved decisive in securing all three points for the home side at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

Speaking after the clash, the 30-year-old forward, who has established himself as a vital cog in Coach Evans Ogenyi’s attack, expressed his delight at contributing to the team’s success.
He acknowledged the team’s recent struggles at home and believes this win marks a turning point.
“Getting these three points is very important for me and the team. Right now, it’s more about the team than personal glory,” he said.
Nwagua’s dedication to the team’s cause extends beyond domestic competitions.
He highlighted the importance of scoring goals and winning matches in continental games, emphasising that his hat-trick can boost the team’s confidence for future challenges.
“We are very happy because we’ll be heading to Angola with confidence,” he claimed.
Nwagua dedicated his hat-trick to God, his family, well-wishers, and the passionate Rivers United fanbase.
Meanwhile, Nyima Nwagua has now reached 40 career goals in the Nigerian Premier Football League with his hat-trick.
Recall that the strong forward was a member of the Port Harcourt outfit that took home the NPFL trophy in the 2021–2022 campaign.
