In Sunday’s match, Taiwo Awoniyi, a prominent Super Eagles’ player, achieved a milestone by grabbing what proves to be the curtain closer, his 10th league goal in the current Premier League season.
The Nigerian international reached double digits in terms of goals scored, aiding Nottingham Forest to secure a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
This season, Taiwo Awoniyi has found the back of the net in eight Premier League games, consistently putting Nottingham Forest ahead with a 1-0 lead in each match.

This accomplishment surpasses the record set by Andrew Johnson of Crystal Palace in the 2004-05 season, as no other player from a newly promoted club has scored the opening goal more times in a single season (9).
Notably, Taiwo Awoniyi becomes the first Nottingham Forest player since the 1994/95 season to score more than ten goals in the Premier League, an achievement he accomplished during his debut season.
Only four players have scored 10+ Premier League goals in a single season for Nottingham Forest:
◎ Nigel Clough (1992/93)
◎ Stan Collymore (1994/95)
◎ Bryan Roy (1994/95)
◉ Taiwo Awoniyi (2022/23)

It is worth mentioning that Awoniyi was initially signed by Liverpool but was frequently loaned out before returning to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, where he has emerged as their leading scorer.
Additionally, during the first half of the season, Awoniyi even managed to score against his former club, Liverpool, in a Premier League encounter.
