Kwara United head coach, Tunde Sanni, didn’t hold back his frustration after his side’s lacklustre start in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) opener against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
In front of a home crowd that turned out in droves to support their team, the Harmony Boys fell short, losing 2-1 to the visiting Ikon Allah Boys, Footballrover reports.
Sanni, visibly displeased, pointed to a lack of composure and coordination as the culprits behind his team’s defeat.
How Did Kwara United Fall Short?
It all began in the 32nd minute when Joseph Godstime stunned the home crowd, dancing past his marker and coolly slotting the ball into the net.
His composure in front of goal gave Niger Tornadoes the early lead, giving the away side huge momentum for more.
Sabiu Ibrahim then produced a moment of magic in the 69th minute, launching a thunderous long-range strike that could easily contend for the FIFA Puskás Award.
His incredible goal doubled the lead and left Kwara United scrambling for answers.
Though Sadeeq Yusuf managed to pull one back for the home side deep into stoppage time, it was too little, too late.
Tornadoes held firm, leaving Ilorin with all three points and a victorious start to the season.

Sanni’s Frustration
After the game, an exasperated Tunde Sanni didn’t sugarcoat his feelings.
“We weren’t composed, we were not coordinated, and I don’t understand where the panic came from,” Sanni said in his post-match interview.
He admitted that the team only began to organise themselves in the dying moments of the second half and lamented their inability to convert early chances.
Despite a few flashes of brilliance, Kwara United’s first game left much to be desired, and Sanni will be looking to regroup and steer his team back on track in the matches to come.
