Bendel Insurance are back to winning ways as the Benin Gunners emerged victorious after securing a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Kano Pillars in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match on Tuesday evening.
This win comes after a string of setbacks for the Benin-based club, marking a significant return to form, Footballrover reports.
The game saw Kano Pillars take the lead in the 16th minute through a well-placed strike from Mustapha Ibrahim. Bendel Insurance struggled in the first half, failing to convert their chances.
However, the tide turned in the second half. Coach Monday Odigie implemented tactical changes, bringing on Osaghae Jr. in the 51st minute.

This substitution proved crucial, as Osaghae Jr. earned a penalty just six minutes later, which Sunday Anyanwu confidently converted to equalise.
Odigie further strengthened his attack in the 76th minute, introducing fresh legs in Chisom Okereke and Michael Enaruna.
The impact was immediate, with Okereke delivering a pinpoint pass in the 84th minute that set up Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi for the winning goal.
Oritseweyinmi’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award, sponsored by Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Engr. Godwins Marvellous Omobayo.
The win lifts Bendel Insurance to 41 points after 30 matches. They’ll look to build on this momentum as they face Lobi Stars in their next fixture.
