Cesc Fabregas, the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfield maestro, has set his sights on managing a top team in the Premier League.
Fabregas, who retired from playing in 2023, is currently gaining coaching experience as an assistant at Italian Serie B side Como, Footballrover reports.
However, a recent stint with Arsenal’s youth teams has ignited his desire for a return to the English top flight.
Fabregas has ambitions to be a first-team coach and is eager to take the reins sooner rather than later.
While acknowledging the importance of following the proper coaching pathway, Fabregas is clear about his long-term goal:
“100% of my ambition one day is to coach a top club in the Premier League, the Champions League.”
He acknowledged the importance of following the proper coaching steps but expressed his strong desire to be a first-team coach right away.
Fabregas is currently laying the foundation for his managerial career.
He is acquiring the necessary qualifications, including the UEFA Pro licence, which would allow him to manage in the Premier League.
He has indicated that he wasn’t particularly interested in assistant coaching or minor coaching roles.
Como, managed by former Crystal Palace assistant Osian Roberts, is currently well-placed for promotion to Serie A.
While Fabregas is happy with his current role, it seems the Premier League beckons for the ambitious Spaniard.
