Coach Monday Odigie, displaying huge faith in his team, is confident they will bounce back stronger as the NPFL second round progresses, Footballrover reports.

Coach Odigie stated this during a post-match interview after the Benin Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat in their matchday 20 at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan Lagos.

The coach acknowledged his team’s loss but emphasised the importance of learning from mistakes and moving forward.

Bendel Insurance had previously triumphed over Sporting Lagos with a 3-1 victory in Benin during the first round of the league, ending on a high note.

However, Sporting Lagos showed resilience in the rematch as the second round commenced.

Despite the setback, Coach Odigie expressed confidence in his team’s ability to recover as the season unfolds.

The game has come and gone; we will continue to work on our mistakes, continue to correct them, and get better. Sometimes you are well prepared, but some mistakes can cost you the game,” Odigie said.

The Tech Boys dominated the early stages of the match, with Bendel Insurance’s goalkeeper Amas Obasogie and his defenders thwarting numerous attacks.

The Noisy Lagosians managed to break the deadlock in the 56th minute with a well-executed freekick by Tochukwu Michael, leaving Bendel Insurance trailing.

Despite making strategic substitutions in pursuit of an equaliser, Bendel Insurance couldn’t overturn the result, with Sporting Lagos holding onto their lead until the final whistle.
