Kelechi Nwakali, Super Eagles midfielder, has been connected with a move to FC Luzern of the Swiss Super League this transfer window, according to reports.
Nwakali has been without a club since parting ways with Huesca in Spain following his debut for Nigeria at the AFCON in Cameroon in 2021.
After placing ninth in the ten-team Swiss Super League, FC Luzern will be looking to strengthen their team, and Nwakali might be a significant addition to the side.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal in 2016, was loaned out to several clubs before joining Huesca in 2019.
Nwakali came to Huesca after being released by Arsenal in 2019, where he struggled to earn a place in the team until last season, when he had a nice run of games.
Unfortunately, the Nigerian international’s contract was terminated upon his return from the 2014 Africa Cup of Nations due to a disagreement with the Spanish club.
In the 2021/22 season, he made 21 appearances for Huesca in all competitions and was capped three times by the Super Eagles.
FC Luzern, who narrowly avoided relegation last season will be hoping for Nwakali’s deal to pull through so the midfielder will assist them improve their standing next season.
