Nigerian star Akor Adams has revealed the surprising influence behind his decision to join Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.
In an exclusive interview with the club’s media, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker shared how Super Eagles star played a key role in his move to the Spanish team.
The revelation sheds light on the powerful connections within Nigerian football and adds another chapter to Sevillaās rich history of African talent.

Adams, who signed a contract with Sevilla FC until 2029, disclosed that Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke was instrumental in convincing him to join the Andalusian club.
āI spoke to Ejuke and he told me that I had to come here, that I would love it. Kelechi is a great player and he also told me that. ‘I’m very happy that I listened to them’,ā Adams stated.
Ejukeās endorsement gave Adams the confidence to take the leap from French side Montpellier HSCĀ to one of Spainās most decorated clubs.
Adams also spoke about his first impressions of the city and the iconic RamĆ³n SĆ”nchez-PizjuĆ”n Stadium, where he experienced Sevilla’s passionate fanbase.
āThe atmosphere was incredible, and the anthem left a mark on me,ā he said.
While the Los Palanganas’ recent match against Espanyol ended in a draw, Adams expressed optimism about contributing to the teamās future victories.
Sevilla’s African legacy and Adamsā ambitions
The Nigerian forward is no stranger to club’s history, particularly its success in Europe and the impact of African players at the club.
āIāve seen a lot of the finals, and this is a very big club. I want to be part of that history and write my own chapter here,ā he said.
Adams also highlighted his readiness to adapt to La Ligaās style of play.
“French football is different, but Iāll do everything to fit into the coachās system and help the team. Iām in great shape and mentally prepared,” he affirmed.
The striker, who turns 25 this week, hopes to replicate his early success in Norwegian and French football by hitting the ground running in Spain.
