Slavia Prague extended their dominance in the Czech First League with a commanding 3-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen on Sunday evening, thank to their strong back man Igoh Ogbu.

The Nigerian defender sealed the win in style, heading in his first of many to come to put the game beyond doubt at the Doosan Arena, Footballrover reports.

Slavia Praha take early control

The visitors wasted no time in making their mark. Just 104 seconds into the game, Tomáš Chorý finished off a pinpoint cross from David Douděra to give Slavia an early lead.

However, Plzen responded in the 19th minute when referee Rouček awarded them a penalty after a handball by David Zima.

Pavel Šulc made no mistake from the spot, leveling the score at 1-1.

Slavia regained control before halftime, earning a penalty of their own after Vašulín handled the ball inside the box.

Chorý stepped up again and calmly converted, netting his 10th league goal of the season to send the visitors into the break with a 2-1 lead.

Igoh Ogbu seals the win with first goal of the year

The second half began just like the first—with a quick goal for Slavia.

Two minutes after the restart, Christos Zafeiris delivered a well-placed corner, and Igoh Ogbu rose highest to power home a header, marking his first goal of the year and extending his team’s lead to 3-1.

With a comfortable advantage, Slavia saw out the game efficiently, securing all three points and moving 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Ogbu’s crucial goal added to his side’s impressive unbeaten run, now at five matches, including four straight wins.

Next up, Slavia Praha will shift their focus to the MOL Cup round of 16, where they face FC Silon Táborsko on Wednesday.

Head coach Jindřich Trpišovský praised his squad’s mentality, emphasising how their belief and consistency have strengthened the team’s performance throughout the season.
