Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka has done it again at Brentford, delivering another key assist as he’s gradually gaining ground in the Premier League this season.
But despite his creative spark, the Bees suffered heartbreak as The Black Cats snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light on Saturday evening, Footballrover reports.
Frank Onyeka Shines, But The Bees Miss Their Moment
The Super Eagles midfielder now has back-to-back goal contributions, following his impact in the Bees’ 2-0 win over Bournemouth.
This time, Onyeka set up Igor Thiago’s 77th-minute header to give the visitors the lead.
However, the away side missed a golden chance earlier when Kevin Schade saw his penalty saved by Robin Roefs.
The hosts, who had started brightly after their EFL Cup exit, kept pressing and finally levelled through Enzo Le Fée’s spot-kick in the 81st minute.
Sunderland’s Late Drama Stings The Bees Hard
Just when Onyeka and his teammates looked set for a point, Wilson Isidor broke their hearts in the 96th minute, heading home Granit Xhaka’s cross to seal the newly promoted side’s second straight home win of the season.
The result ended Brentford’s run of eight consecutive victories against promoted sides in the Premier League.
For The Black Cats, it marked their first pair of home league wins to start a top-flight campaign since 2001/02, leaving their fans in jubilation while the Bees were left frustrated.
