Super Eagles star Nathan Tella made his mark in the Bundesliga with his first assist of the season, but Bayer Leverkusen collapsed late on in a dramatic 3-3 draw against Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion.
The Nigerian forward showed flashes of brilliance, yet defensive lapses cost Erik ten Hag’s men their first win of the campaign, Footballrover reports.
Nathan Tella Ignites Leverkusen’s Early Spark
Tella set up Patrik Schick for the opening goal after capitalising on a loose pass from Bremen’s Karim Coulibaly.
The 26-year-old winger looked lively, staying on the pitch for 88 minutes before being replaced by Ibrahim Maza.
His early contribution gave Leverkusen control, and soon after, Malik Tillman doubled their lead on his debut.
But Bremen refused to fold. Romano Schmid converted from the penalty spot to pull one back before halftime, leaving the visitors unsettled.

The second half brought more drama. Bremen captain Niklas Stark was sent off, and Schick restored Leverkusen’s two-goal cushion from the spot.
Yet defensive mistakes proved costly again, with debutant Isaac Schmidt cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Deep into stoppage time, Bremen’s Coulibaly redeemed his earlier error by smashing home a rebound off the bar to seal a stunning equaliser.
The result means both Bayer Leverkusen and Bremen remain winless after two Bundesliga games, with Ten Hag still searching for his first league victory.
