Rangers’ Ossy Martins was the star of the show, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Kwara United in the NPFL match on Sunday.

Rangers returned back to winning ways in the Awka City Stadium, Awka, after a disappointing loss to the Niger Tornadoes.

In an eighteen-minute blitz of superb football from the home side and blunders from the visitors, Ossy Martins scored a brace and Chidiebere Nwobodo scored the other.

Shedrack Asiegbu’s well-drilled effort from the edge of the box was mishandled by goalkeeper Emmanuel Iwu, and Ossy Martins was the first to respond to the loose ball, slamming home the game’s first goal after four minutes.

At the quarter-hour mark, another keeper error allowed Chidiebere Nwobodo to add to the home side’s scoreline.

18 minutes into the encounter, Ossy Martins grabbed his second goal of the day, after Chukwuebuka Okorie superbly set him up from the edge of the box as the defenders failed to detect the danger.

Ossy Martins has now scored 30 goals in the NPFL, including nine this season.

Despite having more chances to score, the visitors’ substitute goalkeeper, Abdulateef Ishola, performed well to preserve the score the same as it was when both teams left for the first half.

However, Ossy Martins had chances to penalize the ‘Afonja Warriors’ with additional goals and a hat-trick, but Ishola, the goalkeeper, thwarted them.

Even with the 3-0 victory, Rangers were still relegated to third place after the win.
