Enugu Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has passionately embraced his new role as an assistant coach for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ilechukwu’s appointment comes as part of Interim Manager Augustine Eguavoen’s revamped coaching team, which also includes Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars, Footballrover reports.
In a strategic move ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Augustine Eguavoen announced the addition of the two prominent coaches to his staff.
Fidelis Ilechukwu, the esteemed head coach of Enugu Rangers, and Daniel Ogunmodede, the tactical mastermind behind Remo Stars, will join Eguavoen as assistant coaches.
Ilechukwu, who led Enugu Rangers to a spectacular victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and Ogunmodede, who secured a commendable second place for Remo Stars, are set to bring their expertise to the national team.
Their appointments come as the Super Eagles gear up for crucial matches against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic and the Amavubi of Rwanda.
In a statement on his X page, Ilechukwu expressed his gratitude and determination:

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 5:00 PM Nigerian time at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Following this, they will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for their second match against the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM Nigerian time.
With Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede’s expertise now in the mix, the Super Eagles are poised to tackle these crucial qualifiers with renewed vigor and strategic acumen.
