Duru, 24, last featured for the Nigerian giants in the 2022 NPFL season, where he played a key role in their championship win, Footballrover reports.

However, the following season (2023/24) saw him remain clubless.

According to reputable transfer source MikeThePundit, the defender, who also enjoyed a successful stint with Lobi Stars, including a league title win in 2018, is expected to be unveiled by Sønderjyske Fodbold this week.

Recall that his performance for Lobi led to an international stage, as he made his debut for the Nigerian national team (CHAN Eagles) against Togo in 2019.

Duru’s consistent brilliance on the domestic scene hasn’t gone unnoticed.

His impressive performances earned him a place in the 2022 NPFL Team of the Season with Rivers United after being regarded as the best freekick specialist in the league.

Now, a new chapter is here for the promising defender.

This move to Sønderjyske Fodbold, a club that earned promotion to the Danish top division last season, presents Duru with an exciting opportunity to bounce back and revive his career.
