Nigerian forward David Okereke is seriously proving to be unstoppable in the Turkish Super Lig.
The fast-rising forward struck again on Sunday, securing his 7th goal involvement of the season and guiding Gaziantep FK to a crucial 1-0 victory over Demirspor, footballrover reports.
His early goal not only sealed the win but also extended the club’s unbeaten run to five games as they continue to push up in the league.
David Okereke’s early strike secures Gaziantep FK’s victory
It took David just four minutes to make an impact at the Kalyon Stadyumu. The 27-year-old forward wasted no time in punishing Demirspor’s defence, scoring the decisive goal that handed Gaziantep FK an early lead.
Despite Demirspor’s relentless attacks throughout both halves, Gaziantep FK showed resilience and maintained their narrow advantage until the final whistle.
Coming off a 2-2 draw with Kasimpasa—where Okereke also found the net—and a dominant 4-0 Turkish Cup win over Istanbulspor, Gaziantep FK continued their strong form.
David, currently on loan from Serie B side Cremonese, was the man of the match but was substituted in the 86th minute for Mirza Cihan after delivering the match-winning goal.
Okereke’s goal contribution highlights his key role
With five goals and two assists in just 12 appearances, David Okereke’s 7th goal involvement shows his growing influence in Gaziantep FK’s attack.
His consistency has been instrumental in the club’s steady climb in the Super Lig standings, where they currently hold 8th place with 25 points.
Looking ahead, Okereke and his teammates will aim to build on this momentum when they face Bodrumspor on Saturday, January 18.
If his current form continues, the Nigerian striker could be the driving force behind Gaziantep FK’s push for higher league positions.
