Granada’s fast-rising star, Edna Imade, extended her incredible scoring streak in Liga F with a fifth consecutive goal, but even her brilliance wasn’t enough to stop Real Madrid from ending Granada’s six-game unbeaten run.
The 3-1 defeat at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Sunday exposed Granada despite Imade’s continued dominance on the pitch, footballrover reports.
Edna Imade’s goal not enough to save Granada
Despite her brilliant performance, the Nigerian forward and Granada were overwhelmed by a relentless Real Madrid side.
Madrid struck first through Maelle Lakrar in the 15th minute, putting the visitors on the back foot.
The Super Falcons prospect, however, responded swiftly, levelling the score in the 27th minute with a composed finish—her 11th goal in 14 Liga F matches.
Granada maintained their momentum into halftime, but Madrid regained control after the break.
Signe Bruun’s 60th-minute strike put Madrid ahead, and Eva Maria Navarro sealed the win with a late goal in stoppage time, handing Granada their first defeat in six matches.
Real Madrid exposes Granada’s defensive weaknesses
While Edna Imade displayed her all-around talent—registering a 52% pass accuracy, creating three shots, and contributing defensively with one tackle, two aerial duels won, and four recoveries—Granada’s defence couldn’t contain the persistent attacks of their hosts.
The defeat leaves Granada in 7th place with 19 points, intensifying pressure ahead of their upcoming clash with UD Tenerife, where Imade will face Super Falcons stars Gift Monday and Rinsola Babajide.
Imade’s current form is nothing short of remarkable. She recently scored decisive goals against Levante Badalona, Levante, and Deportivo La Coruna, proving her consistency as Granada’s most potent attacking weapon.
Yet, Sunday’s result highlights that even her brilliance requires stronger team support to challenge top-tier teams like Madrid.
Granada will need a quick recovery if they hope to stay competitive in Liga F, and they will be hoping on Edna Imade to continue leading the charge.
