In the lopsided match at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra, Côte d’Ivoire emerged victorious, securing a spot in the finals of the 2024 U-17 Boys WAFU Zone B Championship, Footballrover reports.

After a goalless first half, the Baby Elephants found the breakthrough when Youbah Coulibaly netted the only goal of the game in the 54th minute, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up by Nigeria.

Despite their efforts, the Golden Eaglets were unable to unlock Côte d’Ivoire’s defensive wall, leaving them defeated and out of the competition.
The match proved challenging for Nigeria, as the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire displayed greater composure and determination to secure their spot in the finals.
Nigerian goalkeeper Dominic Chinedu made several crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
Burkina Faso stuns Ghana 2-1:
In the first semi-final game, Burkina Faso triumphed over Ghana, eliminating the host team from the championship and the 2024 U-17 men’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

Consequences of the results:
The defeat means that five-time world champions Nigeria and three-time world champions Ghana will not participate in the 2024 U-17 Boys Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, and the U-17 Boys World Cup.
