Portugal are through to the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after a 2-0 win over Uruguay, courtesy of brace from Man United midfielder – Bruno Fernandez at Lusail Iconic Stadium.
Bruno Fernandez found back of the net twice in each half of the Group H, round 2, World Cup match against Uruguay and that was all Portugal needed qualify to round of 16 of the Global Football Championship.
The 28-year-old midfielder scored the curtain raiser for Portugal in 54 minutes of the second half of the match after receiving an assist from substitute Raphael Guerreiro.

Uruguay will have to beat Ghana in their final group game to stand any chance of progression.

The second, and winning goal came at third minute of second half extra time through a Penalty.
An overzealous Uruguay defender cuddled a goal bound ball within his team goal area, and the match referee – Alireza Faghan, awarded penalty after VAR check.
Bruno Fernandez calmly put the ball into Uruguay net for the second goal of the match before being denied a hat-trick by the post deep in stoppage time.
South Korea, and Ghana will now battle for the next group qualifier of the round of 16 in the Championship.
With one game remaining, Portugal will need a point from South Korea to advance to the round of 16 and win the group when they face each other.

Uruguay still has a chance to go to the knockout stages, but they will need to defeat Ghana and hope South Korea loses.
