Chelsea defender reveals he was upset when recalled from loan last season

Chelsea defender – Robert Kenedy, has openly acknowledged that he was angry when he was brought back from loan during the 2021/22 campaign.Chelsea defender reveals he was upset when recalled from loan last season

The Brazilian admitted to SportBuzz that he regretted not staying at Flamengo for more of the previous season.

The 26-year-old played for the Brazilian team on loan for the first part of the season, where they had a lot of success teaming.

The winger eventually appeared to be beginning to shine with consistent minutes as they advanced to the Copa Libertadores final in December.

The defender only had a brief stay and didn’t have enough time to enjoy his country as he was quickly called back from loan after Ben Chilwell sustained a season-long injury.

Due to Marcos Alonso being the only naturally left-footed defender in the starting lineup due to the unavailability of the full-back, it appeared like Kenedy was needed as backup.

Unfortunately for him, he only featured once for the Blues and that was on the final day of the League campaign, which may have made him angry about being called back to the Premier League side.

I was sad to have left earlier than expected. I would have liked to stay longer, but it was not as I dreamed. I hope one day to return and everything will be different. I played half a season in each team, so I didn’t have many opportunities. There’s no way to evaluate my season, but my goal as a professional is always to surpass myself more and more, we always want to enter the pitch to win,” he said.

His position at Stamford Bridge was questioned a number of times after it was noticed that Thomas Tuchel preferred using Saul Niguez and Callum Hudson-Odoi at left wingback when Alonso was out injured as well.

Given that he appears to be entering his prime years of his career and considering the rumored lack of interest in him, it doesn’t seem that his future will be resolved in the upcoming weeks.

Generally, it looks likely that the Brazilian was in a terrible situation last season but will be hoping to make a transfer in the last few weeks of the window as he is now playing for Chelsea without a squad number.

Crystal Palace are reported to have made a move for Kenedy as Patrick Vieira wants a more attacking option on the left hand side of his back 5 and is looking at various options.
