Chelsea legend – Frank Lampard is currently facing huge criticism from fans after he publicly denied having any close relationship with Chelsea owner – Roman Abramovich.

Following his country’s invasion of Ukraine, the Russian billionaire oligarch was hit with harsh financial sanctions, which means the club is unable to sell tickets to home or away fans, agree new transfers or contracts, sell merchandise, spend more than £20,000 on away travel, or carry out any construction work at Stamford Bridge.

The UK government is targeting Abramovich because of his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin in an effort to increase pressure on Russia.

Following the incident, the Everton manager was questioned for his thoughts on the Russian, which he flatly denied, claiming that he has no personal relationship with the billionaire oligarch.

Frank Lampard remarked in a video circulating online and tweeted by @footballdaily:

Unfortunately, many Chelsea fans were offended by his statement, and they rushed to social media to openly condemn the new Everton coach.
