In the African Football Championship (CHAN 2022) Semifinals, Senegal overcame Madagascar 1-0 to advance to the final against the host, Algeria, who had earlier thrashed Niger 5-0.

Papa Diallo of Senegal, who leaped above three players from Madagascar to score the lone goal of the second semi-final game of the Championship, was the deciding factor for his team in the fifth (5th) minute of the first half.

His goal was enough for the Lions of Teranaga to book their place in the Total Energies CHAN final for the first-ever time. A moment of history for Senegal.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Aimen Mahious scored a brace in the 23rd and 34th minutes of the first half to give host – Algeria a four-goal lead after 45 minutes of play.

Ayoub Abdellaoui had started the goal scoring spree in the 15th minute of the first half while Abdoulaye Boureimaika added a fourth goal at the end of the first half of the match (45th minutes).

Sofiane Bayazid put the match beyond the North Africans in 84th minutes of the second half by scoring the fifth goal for Algeria awith an assist from Houssem Eddie Miezigue.

Niger will meet Madagascar for the third place match, while Senegal plays Algeria in the finals on Saturday, 4th February, 2023.
