Senegal humiliated Group B’s third-place winner 5-0 in the first quarterfinal match of the on-going 2023 U-17 CAF  Football Championship in Algeria.U-17 AFCON: Senegal humiliate South Africa in quarter-final clash

In the match played at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Senegal scored three goals in the first half, including an own goal scored by South Africa defender Benjamin Wellas in the 33rd minute of the first half for the Senegalese second.

The victory guarantees the West African nation a World Cup ticket and a place in the semi-finals of the continental football championship.

Senegal scored the third goal in the 44th minute before the end of the first half of the match. Senegal completed the rout with two more goals in the second half.

Senegal will now meet the winners of the fourth quarterfinal match between Nigeria and Burkina Faso for the first semi-final match on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium, Constantine, Algeria, by 5:00 p.m.
