The new WAFCON trophy has officially been unveiled, and the Super Falcons of Nigeria are fully ready to chase history with it.

In Morocco, CAF revealed the stunning new Women’s African Cup of Nations trophy as the countdown to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations begins, Footballrover reports.
For the Super Falcons, this moment is more than just about silverware — it’s another shot at lifting a record 10th title.
CAF unveils new WAFCON trophy in Morocco

On Wednesday, July 2, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) proudly presented the new trophy during a vibrant ceremony in Casablanca, Morocco.
Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and star forward Asisat Oshoala stood tall among national team leaders as they unveiled the new WAFCON trophy, symbolising hope and ambition for African women’s football.

In CAF’s words: “Drawing direct inspiration from the iconic Men’s TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations trophy, the new design represents more than a piece of silverware; it is a celebration of equality, unity, and excellence.”
The trophy’s eye-catching petals spiral upward, each petal standing for a competing team.
Together, they form a blooming flower — a symbol of growth and the bright journey of African women’s football.
At the centre sits a golden sphere shaped like a football, detailed with a gold map of Africa.

Crafted in silver and matte gold, the new WAFCON trophy rests on a white marble base that proudly bears the name of the competition.
Super Falcons hunt record 10th WAFCON title
With the new WAFCON trophy unveiled, all eyes turn to the Nigerian female team. After a fourth-place finish at the 2022 edition, they are determined to reclaim their crown.

The Falcons remain the most successful side in the Women’s Cup of Nations, with nine titles since their first win on home soil in 1998 under the late Ismaila Mabo.
This year, the Super Falcons will battle Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana in Group B. Their first match kicks off against Tunisia on July 6, just a day after the tournament begins on July 5 and runs through July 26.

While Equatorial Guinea and Banyana Banyana of South Africa have also lifted the trophy in past editions, the Falcons stand unmatched in their quest for dominance.
