After grabbing her first goal for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, S.L. Benfica midfielder – Ucheibe Christy, has voiced delight over her performance and said she is happy to have contributed to the team’s significant victory.

Christy scored the game-winning goal to ensure her team earned all three points following the Super Falcons’ 2-0 victory over Botswana on Thursday in the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations, (WAFCON).

The Super Falcons bounced back to winning ways after the South African Bayana Bayana team defeated the Nigerian team 2-1 in the tournament’s opening game,

The Falcons were aware that a loss to Botswana would force them to be eliminated from the competition, therefore they knew they had to win.

Ifeoma Onumonu scored the game’s first goal for the Super Falcons just 22 minutes into the match played at Rabat. She was at the right spot to neatly tapped the ball in for the opener.

On the 32nd minute, the Super Falcon goalie – Nnadozie Chiamaka made an incredible stop to prevent Botswana from tying the game.

She made another stunning save in 38th minute to maintain the Super Falcons’ advantage before the Falcons increased their lead to 2-0 after 47 minutes.

After just a minute of coming into the contest, the super sub – Christy Ucheibe successfully headed the ball home to double Nigeria’s lead and it was her first action in a WAFCON tournament.

Seven minutes into the second half of the game, Ucheibe found herself inside the box yet again and nearly scored another goal for the Falcons, but her shot went wide.

Shortly after the game, the 21-year-old took to official Twitter page to acknowledged that she proud to seal the win for the Falcons.

The Nigerian team will be facing Burundi female team – the Swallows up next on Sunday in hopes of maintaining their winning streak.
