Rasheedat Ajibade wasted no time in making her mark as Atletico Madrid Femenino opened their 2024/25 season with a confident 2-0 victory over Granada.
The Nigerian forward was the key performer, delivering a crucial assist that propelled Atletico to early success in front of their home crowd at the Centro Deportivo Wanda Alcalá de Henares, Footballrover reports.
Ajibade’s influence was felt just 13 minutes into the match.
With precision and vision, she whipped in a well-placed cross from the right wing, allowing Queiroz Costa to calmly slot home the opener with a simple tap-in.
The early strike provided Atletico the upper hand, and Ajibade’s role in it was undeniable.

The Super Falcons star featured for 84 minutes, controlling the tempo on the right flank and keeping Granada’s defence on high alert.
Although Granada managed to match Atletico in terms of total goal attempts (10 each), Ajibade and her teammates had the edge, registering six shots on target compared to their opponents’ two.
Atletico’s dominance in possession and Ajibade’s relentless drive were key factors in maintaining pressure throughout the game.
In the second half, the Nigerian forward continued to be a thorn in Granada’s side.
She came close to adding another assist, but the Granada goalkeeper denied the effort, keeping the scoreline narrow.
The match took a dramatic turn in the 75th minute when Granada’s Isabel Alvarez was shown a straight red card, leaving the visitors down to ten players.
Despite being substituted in the 84th minute, with Sheila Guijarro replacing her, Ajibade had already made her mark.
Her impact paved the way for Atletico’s second goal, as Guijarro headed home from a corner kick in the dying moments to seal the 2-0 win.
