Alex Iwobi returned to Goodison Park with a point to prove against his former club, Everton, during their Premier League game on Saturday.
His second goal of the season seemed poised to hand Fulham a much-needed victory, Footballrover reports.
However, Fulham allowed Everton to equalise in stoppage time, leaving the away fans frustrated and disappointed.
Iwobi’s second-half goal should have been the breakthrough Fulham needed to shake off recent back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Aston Villa.
After a goalless first half, Iwobi pounced, delivering a precise shot that flew into the bottom left corner, stunning his former home crowd.
For Fulham fans, the goal was a glimpse of hope, signalling a potential end to their current slump.
Recalling Iwobi’s departure from Everton in September 2023, his goal symbolised more than just points—it was a personal comeback moment against the team where he spent four years.
His return to Goodison was always going to be emotional, but the goal gave it a sharp edge, casting a bittersweet note for Everton supporters.
Calvert-Lewin’s initial first-half strike, which briefly promised to put Everton ahead, was ruled offside.
Just sixteen minutes into the second half, Iwobi capitalised on the moment, unleashing a powerful shot that left Everton’s goalkeeper helpless.

After picking up the ball outside the box, Iwobi skilfully evaded his marker, curling his effort between two Everton defenders and finding the back of the net.
His performance demonstrated poise and precision, reigniting Fulham’s hopes for a late-season turnaround. Unfortunately, Fulham’s hold on the game was fleeting.
As stoppage time came close, Iwobi was substituted, making way for Jorge Cuenca. Only two minutes later, Fulham’s defence faltered, allowing Everton’s Beto to head home a last-gasp equaliser.
The goal dashed Fulham’s hopes of walking away with three points, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Throughout the match, Alex Iwobi remained a key figure for Fulham. His 65 touches included over 35 accurate passes, five successful long balls, and a well-placed cross.
Defensively, he made six recoveries, won five ground duels, and contributed with two tackles and a clearance.
Positioned as a left winger in Fulham’s 4-2-3-1 formation, Iwobi completed three successful dribbles, more than any other player on the field.
Beyond his goal, Iwobi has consistently impacted Fulham’s season, adding one assist in nine appearances, which came during their 3-1 win over Newcastle United.
Despite Iwobi’s brilliance, Fulham’s winless streak continues, with two defeats and a draw in their last three matches.
They remain in 10th place with 12 points as they prepare to face Brentford, hoping to finally turn their luck around.
